Hinesburg Town Forest |

The Hinesburg Town Forest is the Fellowship's most extensive trail project to date. The new trails will add approximately 15 miles of single track to extant Eagles Trail which is an old Boy Scout project from years ago. Many sections of the Eagles Trail are horribly eroded and not appropriate for mountain biking. Expect the project to see it's completion towards the middle to end of the 2006 season. The Forest is a unique and wonderfully varied 850 acre piece of land. It is marked by beautiful stands of firs, pines, and birches, as well as a mix of desiduous vegetation. Sections of the forest have been logged recently under the direction of county forester Mike Snyder. Mike has seen to it that the logging has taken place in a manner that preserves the integrity and health of this beautiful forest. The land is also the site of a number of old homesteads, dating from a time when folks lived off the land, in the middle of nowhere. The Fellowship has attempted to design and lay out trails so that a user can take notice and enjoy all of these features. The new trail system is a healthy combination of beginner, intermediate, and advanced single track riding. Some of the more advanced trails contain obstacles and freeride type strucures as options. The Hinesburg Town Forest trails may be accessed from three different entrances, Hayden Hill East from Hinesburg or Huntington, Hayden Hill West from Hinesburg, or Economu Rd. from Huntington. (see map inset). When the project is complete there will be a kiosk at each of the three entrances, as well as the Wheel of Fellowship a short ways in from the Economu Rd. entrance. The Wheel entrance serves as a great place to begin and end rides, as well as a gathering and meeting place. This site will contain a kiosk with a master map and brochure style maps of the area. The Economu Rd. entrance is also the best start placing for beginner riders to set out to enjoy the HTF trails. Directions to the Trail (Economu Rd. entrance)
