Richmond River Trail |
This trail was built, and is maintained by the Richmond Trails and Path Committee The trail starts in Richmond and runs along the banks of the Winooski River all the way to Jonesville. This trail is a great opportunity for the beginner to get adjusted to riding single track trails. The trail is fast and "swoopy" and bordered by enormous ferns in certain sections. The more advanced rider will tend to ride this trail more quickly. However, it is important to remember that the trail is used regularly by hikers, local residents walking their dogs and horseback riders. Please pay attention, and check your speed accordingly. The Richmond River trail is equally fun in either direction and can be tied to other rides making for a fabulous, extended ride. At this time (April-2004) two bridges are out along
the path. Both crossings are navigable; one you The trail is about 3 miles long and runs along the Winooski River East and West. It comes out twice to Cochran Road, skirting around two pieces of private land we cannot go through. Most of the trail belongs to the Richmond Land Trust and the Town of Richmond and the rest private land owners.
