Women’s Ride at Saxon Hill

Posted by | | No Comments

If you ride a mountain bike and your pronouns are she/her/hers, you are welcome to join us! These rides are “no-drop”, meaning we don’t leave anyone behind. We generally have two to three groups at every ride… one that runs at a mellow pace on easier trails, an intermediate group and another group that is interested in more advanced trails.

The goal is for everyone to have a good time and not feel pressured, so generally, these rides are social and not “hammerfests”. At a minimum, all riders should be comfortable with climbing, descending, and turning at a mellow pace on forested single track. We will meet at 6:00PM and start riding by 6:15PM. Meet at the parking lot at the end of THOMPSON DRIVE. Usually, the rides last 1.5 hours, so bring snacks, water, and anything else you might need out on the trail. This will turn into a night ride, so please BRING BIKE LIGHTS!

Thanks to Halyard Brewing Co. for your support of this ride series!

Spooky Hollow Halloween Bike Ride

Posted by | | No Comments

The inaugural Spooky Hollow ride in 2015 was a big hit, but wet weather caused us to have to cancel it in 2016. We’re aiming to bring it back, bigger and scarier in 2017! Brought to you by the Fellowship of the Wheel and the Old Spokes Home.

Wear a costume and be ready to ride a haunted loop at Sunny Hollow. This is an all-ages event. Families with young children are encouraged to come early before darkeness descends on Spooky Hollow and the scare factor goes up.

We’ll have beverages for all ages and light food available.

Let’s do the mash, the monster mash!

Dirt Church at Sleepy Hollow

Dirt Church is back in session for Fall 2017 and to kick the ceremonies off we’re riding at Sleepy Hollow. We will split into group rides of varying speeds and distances. Rides will end back at the parking lot with celebratory beers and a BBQ.

Old Spokes Home Fall Fondo

Posted by | | No Comments

Fall Fundo riders raise funds and awareness for Old Spokes Home’s programs using bikes as a tool for social change — by riding their bikes and eating pie.

Create an individual or team fundraising page, pick one of three scenic routes, and spread the word to your friends and family!

The Fall Fundo includes pre-ride coffee and pastries, fully marked courses, ride maps, snack-stocked side stations, a bag ‘o schwag, marked routes, and a big after party.

Rides are fully supported; each route has a leader, a sweep, and a sag wagon with a mechanic.

An after party for 2-5pm will include live music, a barbecue, and beverages. We’ll reward prizes to the the biggest individual and teams fundraisers.

This will be our biggest community gathering of the year — don’t miss out! Learn more and register to ride: https://give.classy.org/OSHfallfundo

Join FOTWheel for a ladies-only mountain bike ride at the Hinesburg Town Forest (HTF) – park at the Hayden Hill East parking area off of Texas Hill Road. Lights will be required for this ride. We are working on securing demo lights for those who do not have lights – stay tuned. These rides provide a supportive environment where ladies can work on new skills and connect with fellow female riders.

Ride #3 will be an intermediate/advanced ride at Sleepy Hollow.

We will start at Sleepy Hollow with group rides touring the fun, but technical trails in this network.  After the ride, we will head to Hatchet Tap and Table in Richmond for recovery food and beer.

There is steep, challenging terrain, so this ride is not recommended for beginner and novice level riders. Sorry.

Shred n’ Sip Ride #1

Posted by | | No Comments

This is the first of a series of new events we’ll be hosting this summer. Each time, we’ll do a group ride at a different network and then stop by a nearby, supporting libation-maker (that’s a brewery) after the ride.

For this first ride we will be riding Sunny Hollow.  We’ll regroup afterwards and bike appox. 1/4 mile down the road to Havoc Meadery for some of their delicious beverages. Come out and join us! All abilities welcome.

Future Sip n’ Shreds will visit Frost Beer Works, Stone Corral, and more.
